America Lost a Great One

We lost a great American hero.....no, not Tim Russert (Although I liked him)....I am talking about George Carlin. He passed away today and unlike the around the clock coverage on TV and Cable and Front Pages of every newspaper in the country (and a few additional pages), the MSM will not give nor will they be able to give George the tribute he deserves. For anyone who has been on this planet over the past 40 years, GC leaves more than just comedy genious. He tweaked (ok destroyed) the politically correct social and political mores of our day. In the 60's, he was arrested for saying the Seven Dirty Words you could not say on Television. Today, the lyrics of many Rap related songs, have all these words and more. It is unfortunate that he could not give a final concert that he knew would be his last. I wonder what he would have said? George told you what he thought and did not care if you liked him. He had his opinion and if you paid your dime, you would here it. If you didn't like what you heard, George would tell you to Póg ma thoin. Good Night George, wherever you and by the way Póg ma thoin and thanks.

Goodnight, George. I will always remember you as Rufus, in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (the movie that somehow launched the career of Keanu Reeves, despite the fact that he can't act that well). FYI, in the end of B&T Rufus shreds on a guitar. George didn't actually play that, but he faked it well. The riff was actually done by Stevie Salas, who I met in the basement of the Viper Room a few years back. I will blog on this and make fun of Aldo.

Oh, I was talking about George. True rebel to the core. Gotta respect that.
